Een schitterend (top) kunstwerk ( "zittend meisje", gemengde techniek ) van de Nederlandse kunstschilder Simon Willem Maris (1873-1935). 2e Generatie Haagse School. Het werk is heel mooi gelijst. Gesigneerd links onder. De afmetingen met lijst: 45 cm. x 36 cm. De beeldmaat is: 23 cm. x 17 cm. De algemene conditie van het kunstwerk is goed. Het kunstwerk is te bezichtigen bij Kunsthandel Martins te Wolvega (Friesland) en wordt geleverd met een echtheidscertificaat.
Biografie:
Door het lichte, kleurige palet, resultaat van een studietijd aan de Antwerpse academie en daaropvolgende studiereizen naar Frankrijk en Italië, onderscheidt het werk van Simon Maris zich duidelijk van dat van zijn vader Willem Maris. Hij schilderde bij voorkeur figuren en portretten, waarvoor na 1908 vaak zijn vrouw Cornelia den Breejen en kinderen Mies en Thijs model stonden. Tijdens de zomer trok de familie doorgaans naar Zandvoort, waar de kunstenaar behalve het mondaine strandleven ook veelvuldig zijn gezin schilderde. In het Amsterdamse kunstleven nam hij een vooraanstaande plaats in. Vlak na 1900 schilderde en schetste hij met Mondriaan en Arnold Gorter langs het Gein.
