Wim Heinecke schilderde al op jonge leeftijd als reclame- en decoratieschilder. In de avonduren bezocht hij de Rotterdamse Academie van Beeldende kunsten, waar hij o.a. les kreeg van J.G. Heijberg en David Bautz. Heinecke schilderde vooral Rotterdam: het water, schepen in de havens, sleperswagens en zandkarren, de rommelmarkt op het Noordplein, straatjes in zomer of winter. Maar ook de Laurenskerk en de havens na het bombardement van mei 1940. Daarnaast schilderde hij landschappen en stillevens met bloemen. De schilder was een van de drijvende krachten achter de Kunstenaarssociëteit ‘De Eendracht’ en 21 jaar bestuurslid van de Beroepsvereniging voor Beeldende Kunstenaars.
