Charles Eames (1907-1978)
Designer Charles Eames learned architectural drawing at the Laclede Steel Company. He then attended Washington University, but did not complete his architecture degree. In 1940, at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, he met his future husband (and second wife) Ray Kaiser. She focused on textile design and weaving and assisted Charles in his design for the Organic Design in Home Furnishings Competition in collaboration with Eero Saarinen. Even after their studies, they continued to collaborate on iconic designs for. architecture, visual design and furniture.
