Founded in 1875 - dissolved in 1881
Progressive Brussels artists united at the end of the nineteenth century in La Chrysalide. Some of these artists came from the group La Société Libre des Beaux-Arts. The main aim of the association was to organize exhibitions with the work of its members, although these were more often unsuccessful than they were. The group can be considered the precursor of Les XX. La Chrysalide was more progressive than the simultaneously active L'Union des Arts and L'Essor, also in Brussels.
