Founded in 2000
Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel founded Studio Job in 2000. They strive for the fusion of applied and visual art by creating projects and objects where disciplines are combined. Their works are usually composed of different forms and give a twist to things the viewer already knows. They pick up objects that they see connections between, or that cause friction and in this way seek out the dialogue. In doing so, they often comment on the world.
Studio Job draws inspiration from classical, popular and contemporary art, iconography and symbolism. They compare their method with composing a symphony: combining different “sounds” into a coherent piece. Studio Job works together with external craftsmen and professionals to make their products in small runs or one-offs.
