Huib van Vugt was een kleurrijk mens en zijn werk is als uitzonderlijk te kwalificeren. Als je de schilderijen van Huib van Vugt bekijkt, voel je de warmte en levenslust naar je toestromen. Hij creëerde vaak een droomwereld. Zijn pure kleurgebruik heeft een krachtige uitstraling. Het Fauvisme was voor Van Vugt een belangrijke inspiratiebron en een verdere stimulans voor zijn fascinatie voor kleur. De invloeden van deze kunststroming heeft hij verwerkt tot een eigen stijl.
