Education: Anneke van Brussel was educated at the Royal Academy of Art and Design Den Bosch, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
She lives and works in Amsterdam.
Anneke van Brussel paints portraits, still lifes and animals. She mainly paints the objects that she finds beautiful or that touch her. You can see this in her still lifes, which she paints with a great sense of detail.
Van Brussel's portraits are clearly different, she takes her own portrait as a starting point and not with the intention to make it appear but more her inner portrait. Anneke van Brussel likes to show in her work the transience of life, the defense of something. This is expressed in the way she processes the paper.
