Dirk OCKER (Amsterdam 1882 - Nijmegen 1958)
Dirk Ocker was a Dutch painter and one of the founders of the Gooische painting club De Tien. He was educated at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam, where it was already known that Ocker was a somewhat recalcitrant painter who found it difficult to stick to existing frameworks. After his education he traveled a lot abroad, but he also stayed a lot in Laren. He painted (nude) figures, portraits and scenes in an old Italian style and was influenced by Davinci and Michelangelo. He also founded De Tien together with other Gooische painters, for which he also exhibited himself. His typical Laren interiors sold particularly well abroad.
