After his secondary education he attends the Christian Academy for Visual Art Education in Kampen (teachers are Michel Kuipers and Marja Hooft). Kamphuis exhibited in the Kapelhuis gallery in 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1989. In 1987 he lives and works in Zwolle. He has worked, lived and traveled in Japan for three months. He spent these 3 months in Tokoname as part of winning the INAX Design prize. Tokoname is one of Japan's ancient ceramic centers. He is a ceramist and painter.
