Born in Utrecht, March 10, 1921. Jan Rodrigo started drawing and painting at a young age and continued to do so until he was no longer able to deliver the quality he desired of himself due to physical limitations. On trips at home and abroad, such as France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Morocco and Indonesia, Jan made sketches, which were later developed into drawings and paintings. Many portraits of people, in sports, music, cafes, many cityscapes, many landscapes. Until 2001 he was a member of Genootschap Kunstliefde in Utrecht, he was also co-organizer of the annual Utrecht Art Market for a long time. After having lived in Utrecht, Bunnik, Drogter Storage and Zwolle, he stayed for a while in the Transwijk Care Center in Utrecht, where part of his work has been shown. From 2009 Jan Rodrigo was back in Bunnik and lived in the Bunnichem residential care center. During the spring and summer of 2011, a large part of his drawings and paintings were exhibited here. As a result of this exhibition, Hans Kars came up with the idea that there should be a book about Jan. The book "Jan Rodrigo, painter in heart and soul" was written by Marcel Gieling and was presented to Jan on October 4, 2012 in KUUB - Pieterstraat 3, Utrecht. A three-day exhibition followed, which was then moved to studio Gieling on the Schoutenstraat. The works can still be viewed there. Jan Rodrigo passed away on 20 August 2013. He turned 92.
