Kaj Franck was a Finnish designer born in Vyborg in 1911. He worked for Arabia, Riihimäki and Iittala, among others, but later worked as a teacher at what is now the Aalto-yliopiston taiteiden ja suunnittelun korkeakoulu in Helsinki. Franck's designs have been very influential in the history of applied art. The objects he made were practical, versatile, affordable, but also timeless. He used simple lines, basic shapes and strong colours.
