Born in Frederikshavn, Denmark in 1960.
Education:
From 1981 to 1983, Andersen attended the School of Arts and Craft in Kolding (Denmark), then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (Poland) for two years.
Andersen lives and works in Aalborg (Denmark).
Andersen mainly draws inspiration for her work from nature: the seasons, changing light and colors, the textures of plants, earth and stone. She mainly works with oil paint on huge canvases.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Pia Andersen has had solo exhibitions in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Japan, Mexico, Brazil and the United States, among others. She has received several Danish awards and grants.
