Wieteke van Dort (1943)
Wieteke Moody-van Dort (Soerabaya, 1943), who does not know her... think of Oebele, Het Klokhuis, Tante Lien... But Wieteke is not only an actress, she is also a visual artist. She calls herself Wieteke Moody-van Dort because, when she started painting exhibitions in 1973, she wanted to separate her work as an actress and as a visual artist. She followed a three-year drawing course, studied for a year at the Free Academy and learned screen printing from Georg Hadeler. Wieteke learned a lot from her husband Theo Moody, who is also a visual artist and has exhibited at home and abroad. Highlights were: participation in the 4th International Biennale of Visual Arts Young Artists '75 (New York, 1975) and the participation in the 12th Grand Prix of Contemporary Art in Monte Carlo (Mo¬naco, 1977). In 1980 she received a bronze medal at the Europe Prize for Painting in Ostend, Belgium. Her work is in collections at home and abroad.
