Alexander Franciscus Willem Emile (Willy) van SCHOONHOVEN VAN BEURDEN (Roermond 1883 - 1963 Zuidlaren).
He lived and worked in Roermond, Maastricht, Amsterdam 1905-1906, Roermond until 1908, Amsterdam 1908, Laren until 1925, Amsterdam until 1946, Emmen 1947, Anloo until 1955 and then in Zuidlaren. Van Schoonhoven van Beurden was a student of the Rijksnormaalschool in Amsterdam and by Jhr RAAJ Graafland, ES van Beever and by Jan Toorop. He painted, drew and etched landscapes, flowers, figures and cityscapes. He usually worked in a luninistic style but adapted, in his own words, ?gradually? Also made woodcuts. By profession he was a teacher of art history and drawing at the Amsterdam Lyceum. In the summers he liked to stay in South Limburg, the province of Utrecht and the Gooi, while he liked to spend the winter in Austria or Switzerland.
