BROER DE BOER (1877-1953) VIEW OF A VILLAGE IN FRIESLAND Offered oil on canvas, dimensions approx. 40 x 60 cm, signed Broer de Boer lower right. Including beautiful list. Broer de Boer (Sint Jacobiparochie 1877- Leeuwarden 1953) came to Leeuwarden from the United States in 1920. He was educated at the Independent School of Art in New York. In 1940 an exhibition was devoted to Broer de Boer in the Fries Museum on the subject of Hindeloopen and Gaasterland. A comparable work with tjalks by this master can be seen in the Fries Scheepvaartmuseum in Sneek, Friesland. | |||||||||
