Jaap SAX (Amsterdam 1899 - Alkmaar 1977)
Jaap Sax was a Dutch painter, draftsman and sculptor. For Sax, painting started as a hobby, but later grew into a profession. He settled in Bergen to focus entirely on painting and also became a member of the Bergen School. In addition to being a painter, Sax was also a draftsman and incorporated this into his paintings, so that very precise lines can be discovered in his works. He mainly painted landscapes in the Impressionist style, of which his later works are both smaller in size and more somber in color, with many grey-green tones.
