Jo BAUER (Amsterdam 1873 - Amsterdam 1964)
Painter, draftsman, watercolorist
Education: Jo Bauer studied at the Amsterdam National School for Drawing Teachers. After that she followed her education at the Rijksakademie of visual arts in Amsterdam
Lived and worked in Amsterdam
After her studies, the artist Jo Bauer also taught herself for a while and is also considered to be part of the Amsterdam Joffers, a group of female artists who studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten at the end of the 19th century, became friends and started exhibiting together. They are best known for portraits, still lifes and genre pieces in a late impressionist style.
Exhibitions and prizes:
In 1952 Bauer was awarded the Arti Medal. Her work is in the collectives of the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague and the Singer in Laren.
